Carnival Onlookers

In some parts of Switzerland, very strange spectators appear at Fasnacht (carnival) time, a tradition to drive out evil winter spirits. The beings take up permanent positions at the best vantage points on balconies and window ledges and wait for the colourful processions to parade by. They remain absolutely motionless, have endless patience and never seem to notice the cold.
