At 750 metres above sea level, the summer and winter holiday resort of
Emmetten, around 25 km south of Lucerne, affords breathtaking views of Lake
Lucerne and its surrounding mountain world including the famous Rigi and
Mount Pilatus. The village has two mountain transport systems: one up to the
paragliding paradise of Niederbauen (1923m) and another to the skiing and
hiking area of Klewenalp-Stockhütte (1600m). The area has over 40 km of
well-prepared skiing & snowboarding pistes from easy to medium difficulty
and is also ideal for snowshoe treks in the perfect peace of a wonderful
winter landscape. Guided snowshoe treks including hire of equipment and
fondue fun are also available. Sledging and winter-walking fans are also
well catered for and families can count on a very warm welcome – Emmetten
has been awarded the “Family Friendly” label. There are lots of slopes and
ski lifts for children and beginners. And as well as instruction, the ski
school also offers a ski kindergarten and childcare.
