Flower pots |
|
In summer 2009, the streets of Zurich were adorned with hundreds of plants
in huge flower pots – the latest summer promotion in the Swiss city on the
River Limmat. The purpose was to project Zurich as an attractive and
near-to-nature city in harmony with the ecological spirit of the times. The
plastic pots, 150 cm high with a diameter of 120 cm, were decorated by
various artists. The promotion was sponsored with a choice of 33 plants
available. Each pot had a panel giving information on the owner/sponsor,
artist and plant. The decorative objects were spread throughout the city and
beyond, from the main railway station to the airport, meaning that the
pretty pots were not just enjoyed by those in the inner city but also by
people living in the suburbs. This latest promotion was the continuation of a series of summer events that started in 1998 with colourful, life-size cows, followed by artistically designed benches in 2001 and giant teddy bears in 2005. |
