World Cup Football Championships 2006.
2006 saw the 18th staging of the International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup, which takes place every four
years. In July 2000 Germany won the right to host the event, and the tournament was held from 9 June to 9 July 2006. In the final, Italy defeated France 5-3, to become World Champions for the fourth time, after a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
These photographs show live transmissions in Italy, Germany and Switzerland and shots of jubilant
flag-waving, horn-hooting Italian fans celebrating the success of their
team. |
