Hang Gliding |
|
Apart from actually flapping your arms, hang-gliding is probably the closest
that you can get to flying like a bird. And once proficient, you can simply
glide and take in the scene below or swoop like an eagle in
adrenaline-pumping flight, with stalls, dives and wingovers. But this is not
a sport that you can learn from a book and certainly not by trial and error
- your first error could well be your last! Training and practise are
required to master this sport. But reading up will give you an insight into
basic techniques, the jargon and the equipment, before you embark on your
first training session with a reputable, experienced instructor. These photographs were taken at the 2008 Swiss Delta Championships, held from 8 to 12 May in the spectacular scenery of Central Switzerland. A wonderfully challenging flight area for the tough tasks the pilots have to complete. |
